MOOSEHEAD, AUSTRALIA’S

NUMBER ONE GROOMING RANGE

For a brand that started off with a heavy focus on men’s hair, Moosehead has definitely evolved. He’ll now see it stocked in an array of retailers, with far more choice in the range than ever before. This is another Aussie immigrant to our shores – and very welcome it is too.

As his other half, you need to get the low down on this curious looking animal brand; you may need to fill that man shelf with Moosehead on his behalf. Lest he starts smelling like an actual moose and nobody wants that, do they?

DIRTY BOY BODY WASH - 5 stars

This is triple whammy of outstanding cleanliness. It will suffice for hair, face and body - saving space on his man shelve for the more lavish moisturisers and shaving creams out there on the market.

It has an invigorating fruity nose that will put some punch into his washing. Easily lathered up into an energy-infused foamy joy, this tube will last a long time in spite of its three roles in his routine.

Having used this for a month, it truly can be called “revitalising” – in fact, the day it ran out was a very sad one indeed.

LOOK BUFF FACE SCRUB – 3 stars

This is a serious face scrub. Enriched with Jojoba and Shea butter, Look Buff has both the gravel it needs to fight ingrown hairs and unplug his filthy man pores. It also lathers up a little. Just a small squeeze of this scrub resembles a crystallised gel and it smells pretty good too.

It would have scored higher, but for a couple of things. Look Buff wasn’t very easy to fit into an existing shaving routine - especially if he uses other brands shaving products. The packaging says use twice a week and really, what man can remember that kind of precise direction? Not many at all.

GRUBBY PUTTY – 3.5 stars

The large tub contains a matte-effect, strong-hold hair putty. It is a solid hair product, make no mistake. It looks a little bit like a really light vanilla Gu moose, but don’t let him be fooled, Grubby Putty cannot be ingested.

It can be healthily spread on his head - he shouldn’t use too much though, it does tend to clump up and thin out hair if over applied. The consistency is deceptively soft for its hold factor, so he may try and over-apply. It’s not that it will grease over his hair, it just overloads it.

Nothing about this product lets him down, but this is a very competitive sector and Aussie hair faces different challenges to Brit hair. One wonders if they need a bit of time to absolutely nail their proposition.

Still, bang for buck and sniff for style, this is a well-rounded tub of putty.
